Macnhester United Lose UEFA semi, but win Premiership title

Although on Wednesday, Manchester United lost to Ac Milan in the second leg match (AC Milan wins with a 5-3 agg. score - AC Milan will go on to play Liverpool; a repeat match of the 2005 UEFA Cup) Man U was able to secure their title as this years Premiership winners. After winning their match against Man City, 1-0, yesterday and Chelsea tied Arsenal today, 1-1. Simply put, what an amazing champioship run for the Red Devils this season as they stopped Chelsea from winning another title. Congrats to the Squad and manager Alex Ferguson.

Interesting Fact -
Because Manchester United won the tile, Ryan Giggs is the only player to have won/lead the league in nine champioships. Well done Giggs. Also, as of Saturday, Ronaldo has accumulated 31 goals just in the premiership. Well Done!

Red Devils all the way - again!

Manchester United vs. AC Milan

The next UEFA matchup for Manchester United is against AC Milan; the Italian powerhouse. Wat will each team bring to the finals, we will have to wait to find out. Let's look at the strengths and weaknesses of both teams:

Manchester United: Strengths
- Very strong attack from C. Ronaldo and W. Rooney
- Although Man U may not have the best individual talent in the midfield, they have one of the strongest mid fields in the Premiership
- They don't receive many bookings hence, playing clean games as well as showing great sportsmanship

Manchester United: Weaknesses
- Not a strong defense nor goalie; something the need to invest more money in
- Cristiano Ronaldo is this year's main player since he is basically the only player on the team who consistently plays well

AC Milan: Strengths
- Also a strong offense, but not as strong as Man U
- Top notch defense ranging from all over the world

AC Milan: Weaknesses
- Too many "superstars" in the midfield hence, they don't work too well together
- Have had more red cards than Man U (3 to 1) and

Young Messi = Hero!

This wasn't Messi's first time ever that he saved his team (Barcelona) from losing against Real Madrid although this time, he scored a hat-trick. His third and final goal was an equaluiser in injury as Barcelona only had ten men on the field. This game, was an amazing battle as the two Spainish teams battled another hard fought game from both sides. With Ruud van Nistelrooy opening up he scoring in the fifth minute, Meesi equalised in the eleventh minute. this occured three times throughout the game (twice before Olequer recieved his red in the 45th minute) and one last time in the second half in stoppage and injury time. The tie helped Barcelona stay in first place keeping equal points with FC Sevilla (both at 50 points). Let's hope that Barcelona can continue to play well for the remainder of the season and come out victorous at the end of their season. Go Barcelona!

Ronaldo to join AC Milan

Ever since last touching the soccer ball during a regular season games with Real Madrid (under coach Fabio Capello) in early June, Ronaldo has been transfered to AC Milan for a $9.7 million contract where he will be able to redeem himself. Only, there's a problem; his teamate on the Brazil National team and now teamate on AC Milan - Kaka. During the 2006 World Cup, these two were not on the same page after game 1 against Croatia. Although Brazil won 1-0, Kaka (in particular) was not happy with Ronaldo's efforts during the game. He told reporters, "a little more movement on his part would have been ideal." (from espnsoccernet.com) We wil have to wait and see to find out whether Ronaldo's transfer is for the good or bad of the AC Milan club!

Manchester United or Chelsea?

This year, who is the team that is looking like they are going to win the premiership this year? Manchester United? or Chelsea? or even Arsenal? or possibly Liverpool? Who knows!

Just this past week, Manchester United was six points ahead of Chelsea and looked to extend their lead, but fell short in their 2 to 1 loss to Arsenal. As for Chelsea, it was not surprising to seem them loose 2 to 0 to Liverpool. Each of these top four teams have the potential to win the premiership this year. The team that will win will be the team that wants it the most; the team that works their behind of the most. So, what does Manchester United have to do to win the premiership?

Manchester United - Possesing one of the top offenses in the league, they are a tough team to beat. Having the second top goalscorer on the left wing - Cristiano Ronaldo- is the chalenge for every defense; can they stop him? NO! Although Manchester United has a strong offense, their defense is not as tough as let's say, Chelsea. With Ferdinand being their main back, they lack protection on the wings; the place where every offense wants to go so that they can cross the ball in. On the other hand, Manchester United's midfield is not the best, yet not the worst. For Manchester United to be able to continue to stay in first and win the premiership, they will need to continue to play they are as well as "weave together" more as a team. Thus, they will have higher potential than they have had in recent years.

Ricardo Carvalho is big time for Chelsea

Within 29 minutes at Old Trafford, Saha was able to open the scoring with a left footer into the left bottom of the net. For the next 40 minutes, these two powerhouses would continue to finght hard and accumulate a total of four yellow cards in the game mainly issues of unsportsmanlike. It's because these two teams are so good that players vex (unintendedly) one another.

Luckily for Chelsea, quiet Carvalho came back in the 69 minute with a header goal to tie it up. If it wasn't for Carvalho, Man U. would proably have a 6 pt. lead on Chelsea in the standings. If Chelsea want to get back to their usual place in the standings their going to need to have a long winning streak until they once again meet Man U.

Man U Off To A Fast Start

This season in the premiership, Manchester United have gotten off to a fabulous start. With Chelsea in second, trailing by 3 points, it will only take one mistake for Manchester United to be back in the dust of last year's Premiership champions. Slowly creeping up is a very moderate season for Man U (except for this Sunday, of course!).

With Rooney and Saha leading the premiership with the most goals, 7 and 5 respectively, these two have two very reputable soccer careers. Pay close attention too these two suprestars because they will be difference makers in games to come especially this Sunday against Chelsea. The time where either team can move up or down the standings.
